The New York State Rheumatology Society was founded by Max Hamburger, MD in 2004 as an organization to help address the professional and educational needs of rheumatologists in NY state. NYSRS is the rheumatology organization officially recognized by the Medical Society of the State of New York (MSSNY) and the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) and NYSRS represents our state at the ACR’s Affiliate Societies Council.

The Society represents the interests of rheumatologists and allied health care providers treating autoimmune and other musculoskeletal disease in New York State.

The missions of the NYSRS are to promote standards of excellence for rheumatology care, provide educational and professional development opportunities for our members and to support advocacy efforts which foster healthcare policies that improve and protect our patients’ access to the highest quality health care.
